We read in this passage that Jesus is the image of God. He is like the stamp on a coin - He brings the authority of God into the world as a physical person.

He is more than a representation of God; He is God incarnate, in every way there can be. So Jesus is Lord of creation. And He is the one and only son of God and holds all of creation together.

How can we know Jesus has all power?

Creation is not Jesus' body - the church is. Jesus as the head of the church gave Himself up for the church. Jesus' resurrection is the entire reason for the church still existing today.

All I need is Christ

Jesus is the only all-sufficient saviour of humanity. All we need is the Christ who holds all things together.

All the church needs is Christ

Jesus is all that holds the church together. Only the name of Christ can hold us together and keep us on the same page. Our unity is in Him.
